Our Volunteers: Kevin Barnes Graham McCann David Pasek
Helping Hands Gardening Scheme
Our gardening service is aimed at people who are unable to tend to their gardens for various reasons such as illness, disability or age.
We do ask for a donation of £25 per hour to cover our costs which are around £91 per day. This donation covers our fuel, office overheads, maintenance of the gardening equipment, staff costs and most importantly our volunteer expenses. On average we have at 3 people tending to your garden so the tasks will not take too long to complete.
During 2019-2020 we assisted many individuals with their gardens. Obviously 2020 will be much less due to Covid.
We can: Tackle most basic jobs in the garden including weeding, pruning, shrub removal, painting fences, hedge trimming, mowing and rotovating, planting new plants and general tidy up, including garden clearance (please note we are not able to take away bulky items such as sofas).
Our efforts were rewarded when we won the Queens Award for Voluntary Service in 2007 - an MBE for Voluntary Groups.
The office is open Monday, Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 9.30am and 12.30pm, although we will be out and about assisting people with their gardens so please leave and message and we will get back to you.
The benefits to the client can range from a quick garden tidy up to a complete garden makeover. One client said
"I can no longer do it myself and my garden always looks much better afterwards".
