Helping Hands Gardening & House Clearance Scheme

We have a garden clearance service.  This is primarily aimed at Sanctuary tenants but anyone can ask for assistance.  Please contact 01353 666556 or email Steve for more information.

During 2014 - 2015 we have assisted 226 individuals with their gardens and our volunteers have contributed 4,390 hours.

We can:

Tackle most jobs in the garden including weeding, pruning, shrub removal, creating patios, laying slabs, complete make-overs, laying gravel, mowing and rotovating, planting new plants and general clearing up.

Cultivate allotment areas within large unmanageable gardens for training purposes.

The small and evolving group of volunteers have gained new skills, received training, gained confidence and pride, and been part of team that make a big difference in East Cambridgeshire.

Our efforts were rewarded when we won the Queens Award for Voluntary Service in 2007 - an MBE for Voluntary Groups.

The Helping Hands scheme costs around £55 per day to run so all donations are very much welcomed.  If you would like to donate to the Helping Hands Gardening scheme please click the donate button. A £7 donation will mean that someone will be able to have their grass cut.  The benefits to the client can range from a quick garden tidy up to a complete garden makeover.  One client said "I can no longer do it myself and my garden always looks much better afterwards".
