Voluntary and Community Action East Cambridgeshire (VCAEC) is unique as we offer a dual role within East Cambridgeshire, operating as both the Ely Volunteer Centre and the Council for Voluntary Service (CVS). We also operate two community schemes - Helping Hands and Social Car Scheme.
For more information on finding volunteers or looking for volunteering opportunities please see our volunteering section.
To assist us with running the Volunteering section of the office a £5 donation would enable us to place a volunteer for one hour with either ourselves or with another suitable voluntary organistion.

Council for Voluntary Service East Cambridgeshire (CVS)
We also operate as the Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) for East Cambridgeshire. This means that we are here to assist voluntary and community groups working in the local area. This assistance could be finding funding , information and advice on how to set or run your group, template documents, factsheets, training and networking via our VITAL lunches and our training.
We provide gardening services to those in most need, with a team of volunteers who may experience difficulties and barriers to employment or training. We have also recently introduced a house clearance service. For more details on both these services please click on the link above. We require more gardeners so if you can spare around 5 hours a week then please contact us.
The Helping Hands scheme costs around £55 per day to run so all donations are very much welcomed. If you would like to donate to the Helping Hands Gardening scheme please click the donate button. A £7 donation will mean that someone will be able to have their grass cut. The benefits to the client can range from a quick garden tidy up to a complete garden makeover. One client said "I can no longer do it myself and my garden always looks much better afterwards".
Offering door-to-door transport for people who are frail, elderly, disabled and isolated. We provide private cars driven by volunteers to take individuals who are unable to use conventional transport to hospital and doctors and other trips such as the weekly shop. Fancy getting paid 45p per mile? Yes? We are looking for more drivers.
